Blood moon rises, and with it

A sense of dread

Hazy dreams I can’t quite unwrite in my head

Visions bloodied by flesh and bone

What have I done?

Where has the night gone?

Again the feeling is calling me into the trees

Memory, flashing light

Scenes on a movie screen

Senses boggled, but bright

I smell fear in the wind

And I don’t know where I have been

No emotion, just need, greed, and appetency

My devotion to feeding bleeding burgundy

Second lifetime of tooth and claw

Lost in the sun

Seething at what I’ve become

In the moonlight, running

Hunger never ending

Comes the morning, burning

Naked fury hunting

No escaping from this sick penny dreadful tale

Carnage lodged in betwixt skin and fingernails

Ever present, my shame

And the weight of this need

And unending longing to feed
